Prompt
Scientifically accurate paleoart of Borealopelta, a herbivore Nodosauridae dinosaur from Aptian times (121.4–113.2 million years ago). A wide, low body covered on top and sides by many closely spaced rows of small bony armor plates. A pair of long spines sticking out forward and sideways from the shoulders like the horns of a bull. Reference: Borealopelta is an extinct genus of herbivorous nodosaurid ankylosaur from the Lower Cretaceous of what is today Alberta, Canada. It contains a single species, B. markmitchelli, named in 2017 by Caleb Brown and colleagues from a well-preserved specimen known as the Suncor nodosaur. Discovered at an oil sands mine north of Fort McMurray, Alberta, the specimen is remarkable for being among the best-preserved dinosaur fossils of its size ever found. Anatomy: a straight, tapering tail with NO tail club; reddish-brown on the back, paler on the belly and sides (countershading); short, sturdy legs, walking on four legs, a small narrow head with a beak. Full body in side view, whole animal visible, standing in a coastal Early Cretaceous conifer forest near the sea in what is now Alberta, Canada, with ferns and cycads on the ground, no grass. Natural history museum illustration style, realistic textures and natural daylight, muted natural colors. No text, no labels, no humans, no modern objects.
